Dog Training

I am a positive trainer, so all the session I teach in person and online are driven using a rewards based system to motivate our dogs into working with us. It is my belief that when we are training our dogs, it is most important for us to build a foundation of trust and cooperation. This way when we ask our dogs to perform a behaviour, they will want to do it.

How do I know which type of training to choose?

Training classes are a group training setting, with a lesson plan that we follow to progress as a group. For picking up the basics at Puppy Class, or starting out with a new activity like Treibball, group classes are the way to go, as everyone will be on the same page. You might even make some friends to practice with outside of classes too!

One-to-one training sessions are tailored to your dog, home, and lifestyle. While we will cover some things that cross over with group class lessons, there is more of a focus on your specific needs, and we progress at your dog's pace. This way you aren't waiting for the rest of the class to catch up, or feeling like you are getting left behind if your dog is easily distracted in the class setting. This is also ideal for dogs who aren't ready to go to group classes, due to fear of other dogs, illness, or waiting for vaccinations.

For any sudden changes in your dog's behaviour, I will always recommend a vet visit before contacting me, to check for any illness or injury which could contribute to this sudden change.

It is important that your dog is physically able to take on any new learning, and things such as pain can impact how we approach teaching your dog something new.
